EMERGENCY COMMUNITY RESPONSE

APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED FOR THIS PROGRAM

Key Messages About the Fund

The Prince Albert & Area Community Foundation Inc. is re-activating the Emergency Community Support Fund alongside Community Foundations of Canada.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been an unpredictable and challenging time for many, with some communities experiencing higher levels of vulnerability than others. Marginalized groups, youth, children and the elderly, essential workers, and newcomers are just some of the communities that have faced increased challenges. To provide emergency relief, the Government of Canada launched the Emergency Community Support Fund (ECSF) to help support communities made increasingly vulnerable by the pandemic.

With COVID-19 cases increasing in many communities, and a continuous call for emergency relief, the ECSF will reopen with a second round of funding, providing much-needed assistance to charities and non-profit organizations serving communities experiencing vulnerability. The Government of Canada is flowing this funding through Community Foundations of Canada, United Way Centraide Canada and the Canadian Red Cross.

We are proud to be working with CFC and the Government of Canada to deliver funding locally in Prince Albert & Area to ensure that our citizens are safe and healthy. Through the ECSF, we will be investing an additional $50,000 to Charities and qualified donees supporting people experiencing heightened vulnerability. Organizations can apply starting on October 5, 2020.

Learn more about the program and find out if your organization is eligible to apply.

About the application and granting process

  • The ECSF has simple eligibility criteria and a quick application process and reporting procedure. We invite you to learn more below and apply starting today.
  • The application is designed to be straightforward and efficient. It should take your organization about 20 minutes to complete.
  • Applications will be received until October 30, 2020.
  • Qualified donees will be funded through United Way and community foundations. Non-profit organizations will be funded through the Canadian Red Cross.

In communities where there is both a community foundation and a United Way Centraide

  • We encourage charities in the community who are serving vulnerable populations to apply to the Fund through our community foundation or the local United Way Centraide.
  • Qualified donees may apply more than once (and to different funders if they wish) for different projects or for different aspects of a large project. They cannot receive funding for the same project or same aspect of a project from two intermediaries.
  • Grant applications to community foundations and local United Way Centraides will be assessed locally by our teams. Though community foundations and local United Way Centraides have separate funding streams as a result of our respective agreements with the Government of Canada, we are working together. The ECSF eligibility criteria, application and granting evaluation processes of CFC and UWCC’s are very similar.
  • We understand there is overlap between the community foundation and United Way Centraide funding streams. Please refer to the infographic (Apply button below). Rest assured that we are working together and towards the same goal, which is to flow funds quickly enabling you to continue your important work at this time.
  • It is up to you as a qualified donee to decide where you wish to  - and feel it’s most logical - to apply. Know that in communities where there is both a community foundation and a United Way Centraide, our teams are coordinating efforts and sharing information about ECSF applications on an ongoing basis.
